1996 sees BMX technology at its highest level ever and on top of the list is the 1996 GT Speed Series Team. The fastest BMX bike on the planet? Team GT screams, "Yes!" After all, this bike has taken them to titles all over the world. Who couldn't go fast with a lightweieht GT U.S.A. built 6061 T-6 aluminum frame underneath them? That's right. It also features cantilever brakes, a 1 1/8" head tube, AHead steering system, oversized seat post and split cable guides. And don't forget about the padded GT Drop Nose saddle, GT three piece chromoly cranks, GT Power Series chainwheel, and GT Mohawk hubs. Color: Ball Burnished.

GT BMX serial numbers.
There are a number of possible serial sequences depending on where the frame was made.

Made in the USA The first two characters is the month 01 to 12 = January to December. After the month is year of production. 95 = 1995, 96 = 1996. Speedduction from around October 1995 through to September 1996. Most frames also had a model abreviation stamped next to the serial.

All factories had lengthy production lead times before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Depending on where the frames were made, this may have been around 3-6 months.
