New for 1996, the Haro Ultra occupied the summit of a reshaped freestyle range in which the long-running Master and Sport names no longer appeared. Rather than simply continuing either model, the Ultra presented a distinctly mid-school flagship aimed at committed flatland, street and mini-ramp riders. Its oversized chromoly Megatube frame retained Haro’s signature twin-top-tube silhouette, paired with a one-inch threadless chromoly Megafork and Kneesaver II bars. A 19.5-inch top tube, steep 74.5-degree head angle and substantial 31.25-pound weight gave it a more purposeful stance than the lighter Shredder family below. Premium equipment included 180 mm Fusion tubular chromoly three-piece cranks, a protective 44-tooth GrindDisk, Araya 7X 48-hole alloy rims and sealed-bearing Suzue hubs. An Odyssey Gyro, Dia-Compe Nippon front brake and 990 rear U-brake completed its serious freestyle package. Available only in chrome, the Ultra became Haro’s new top-tier complete while marking a decisive break from its celebrated predecessors.

The first two characters KH is the factory code. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

Made in Taiwan.
As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
