The 1996 Haro Shredder Mag placed a distinctive five-spoke spin on Haro’s established entry-level freestyle platform. Beneath its Titanium finish, it shared the standard Shredder’s Megatube frame with chromoly seat tube, U-brake bosses and tapered chromoly fork. Geometry also remained unchanged, combining a 19-inch top tube, 72.5-degree head angle and 71-degree seat angle. Its defining upgrade was the ACS Z Mag wheelset, replacing the conventional Shredder’s 48-hole alloy rims and low-flange hubs. The moulded wheels created a bolder mid-school appearance but raised the listed weight from 27.6 to 28.6 pounds. Freestyle equipment included an Odyssey Gyro, Haro bars, Fusion alloy stem and 20 x 2.1 Haro Multisurface tyres. Dia-Compe MX-884 Bulldog front and alloy U-brake rear stopping duties were unchanged. A 175 mm one-piece crank, 44-tooth Fusion disc and 16-tooth freewheel completed a practical build that offered Shredder riders standout styling without moving to the higher-specification Deluxe in Haro’s range.

The first two characters KH is the factory code. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

Made in Taiwan.
As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
