Entering its fourth season in 1996, the Haro Group 1 Ci occupied the centre of Haro’s race range, positioned above the Ti and below the competition-focused Si. Intended for improving racers who wanted track equipment at a manageable price, it upgraded the Ti with chromoly main tubes, a tapered chromoly fork and chromoly 175 mm one-piece crank. The V-bar monostay frame retained a 20.6-inch top tube, 74.5-degree head angle and 69-degree seat angle, matching the geometry used across Haro’s Group 1 line. At 23.9 pounds, the Ci was 1.35 pounds lighter than the Ti and only marginally heavier than the Si. Its 44-tooth Fusion alloy Disk Drive and 16-tooth freewheel delivered race gearing. Haro 36-hole alloy rims, ACS fat hubs and Holeshot tyres provided a wheel package, while a Tektro alloy cantilever handled braking. Offered in chrome, Titan or Electric Purple, the Ci balanced chromoly upgrades with accessible mid-range specification.

The first character K is the factory code. The next two characters are the model CI. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
