Entering its fourth season in 1996, the Haro Group 1 Si sat near the top of Haro’s race range, above the Zi, Ti and Ci but below the lighter aluminium Ali. Designed for serious racers chasing local mains, it combined Group 1 geometry with a stronger component package. Its double-butted chromoly V-bar monostay frame and tapered chromoly fork were built around a 20.6-inch top tube, 74.5-degree head angle and 69-degree seat angle. At 23.8 pounds, it undercut the Ci by half a pound while retaining a steel frame. Race-focused upgrades included Fusion Race Lite 6061-T6 alloy handlebars, a 180 mm chromoly one-piece crank, two-piece 44-tooth Fusion alloy RaceDisc and Haro alloy bear-trap pedals. Haro 36-hole alloy rims, ACS alloy fat hubs and Holeshot tyres formed a wheel package, controlled by a Tektro alloy cantilever brake. Available in chrome or Bad Black, the Si offered riders performance without adopting aluminium construction.

The first character K is the factory code. The next two characters are the model SI. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

Made in Taiwan.
As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
