Introduced for 1996 alongside the Group 1 Si 24, the Haro Group 1 Elite 24 became the flagship of Haro’s first 24-inch cruiser offering. It targeted racers contesting both pro and cruiser classes, rather than riders seeking a larger BMX. Its 7005-aluminium cruiser frame used Haro’s monostay layout, a 21.75-inch top tube and 73-degree head angle, paired with a threadless chromoly fork. Compared with the chromoly Si 24, the Elite added a 180 mm Fusion three-piece chromoly crank, 44-tooth Nuke chainwheel and sealed-bearing Suzue hubs. Haro 32-hole alloy rims reduced spoke count from the Si’s 36-hole wheels, while Holeshot 2 tyres completed the rolling package. Fusion 6061-T6 Race Lite cruiser bars, alloy bear-trap pedals and a Tektro cantilever brake supported competition use. Weighing 23.5 pounds, it was 1.6 pounds lighter than the Si 24. Its polished aluminium finish visually linked it to the 20-inch Elite while establishing Haro’s top-tier cruiser.

The first two characters KH is the factory code. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
