Returning for its second season, the 1996 Haro Group 1 Ali occupied the upper end of the race range, above the chromoly Si and below the Elite. Aimed at expert and professional riders, it introduced aluminium-frame performance without the Elite’s three-piece crank and wheel package. Its 7005-alloy XL frame retained Haro’s V-bar monostay layout, paired with a threadless tapered chromoly fork and Fusion clamp-on stem. Group 1 geometry included a 20.6-inch top tube, 74.5-degree head angle and 69-degree seat angle. At 22.25 pounds, the Ali was 1.55 pounds lighter than the Si, supporting serious acceleration-focused racers. Components included 6061-T6 Fusion Race Lite alloy bars, a 180 mm chromoly one-piece crank, 44-tooth Fusion Nuke chainwheel and alloy bear-trap pedals. Haro 36-hole alloy rims, ACS fat hubs, Holeshot tyres and a Tektro cantilever brake completed the race-ready build. Its Scotch-Brite satin aluminium finish visually emphasised the advanced frame material and purposeful specification.

The first two characters KH is the factory code. The next character is year of production. 5 = 1995, 6 = 1996. Depending on the factory, production may have started around June 1995 through to May 1996.
After the year is month of production. A to L = January to December.

As a general rule, bikes made in Taiwan at this time had around a 5 month production lead timeline before they were delivered and sold in bike shops around the world. Generally around May of each year, factories would switch production to making models for the following year.
